Can you imagine standing under this? No wonder Hafiz wrote the way he did…  Look at this inspiration….

Ray Bradbury (born in 1920) wrote tons of short stories and quite a few books. He wrote Fahrenheit 451 in the basement of a library on a typewriter that cost 10 cents for every thirty minutes used. When he needed quotes for his book, he would dash upstairs and flip through books until he found a quote he wanted to use. He lived in libraries, met his wife in a bookstore, and is madly in love with books and words. And he was so freaking attractive.

“I received the fundamentals of my education in school, but that was not enough. My real education, the superstructure, the details, the true architecture, I got out of the public library. For an impoverished child whose family could not afford to buy books, the library was the open door to wonder and achievement, and I can never be sufficiently grateful that I had the wit to charge through that door and make the most of it.”
- Isaac Asimov, born today in 1920.

Still unique, still exploring, still beautiful, so glad to see her on this list!

becauseofthiswoman:

Name: Tori Amos
Dates:
 1963-present

Why she rocks:
She is a very accomplished singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist. She has been regarded as one of the most talented musicians of our generation for her use of her primary instrument, piano, in the alternative rock genre. She has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide and has been nominated for 8 Grammy awards. Tori also co-founded RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network), a toll-free help line in the US to connect callers with their local rape crisis center. She is currently the national spokesperson for this organization, which has been ranked as one of the best charities in the nation.

Quote: “Get to know the monster that lives inside your soul, and explore it.”

Because of this woman… we have beautiful music that she writes from the soul, in order to channel her feelings about the injustices that women face, and a charity that has helped millions of women nationwide.

When I looked at these photos, the first thing I thought was “Helena Bonham Carter”… now, not that Miss Helena doesn’t have her very own charm and style, but still … tell me that she is not trying to channel Clara, at least a little bit??

I’m becoming utterly obsessed with photos of book shelves. I love the aesthetics of it. For me, it just makes a space look warmer, lived in. It gives the area character and I keep dreaming of the day I’ll have my own home and I can change walls to look exactly like this.

Can’t WAIT to do something like this in our new bookstore location… I know it will take a while, but… ahhhhh!
